Josh Vanden Branden Green Bay, WI, Death; Navy Veteran has died

Josh Vanden Branden — a beloved Navy veteran, loyal friend, and devoted family man — has passed away. His loss is being deeply felt by his shipmates, friends, and family, who remember him for his humor, dedication, and the positive energy he brought into every moment.

From his time serving aboard the USS Truman to the many years spent with loved ones, Josh made a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. During his service in the U.S. Navy, he was recognized for his strong work ethic, leadership, and uplifting spirit.

One former shipmate shared heartfelt memories, saying:

“It’s never a good day to find out someone you served with has passed. It’s even worse when it’s one of your ‘Sea-Pups.’ VB was one of my Work Center Sups while we were stationed on the U.S.S. Truman. The last time I saw him was 10 years ago, when Kevin Keeling and I organized an all-Navy team of drunks to run Ragnar Hill Country in 2015. He was one of our strongest runners on the team.

Josh Vanden Branden… Fair Winds and Following Seas.”

Another close friend, Travis Uptegrove, reflected on their bond:

“This one really hurts. From our days acting like fools together in the Navy to seeing him every year at our retreat, I’ve never known a more genuine person than Josh Vanden Branden. He was always encouraging, always loved everyone around him, and always made me laugh. You couldn’t be around Josh and be in a bad mood.

I keep thinking back on so many stories together — they make me laugh, and then cry. Josh wasn’t just a friend; he was a brother, an inspiration to be a better husband and father, and to love people better.

Josh loved Jesus and loved his family with all his heart. This isn’t goodbye — it’s ‘I’ll see you later.’”

Those who served alongside Josh describe him as dependable, upbeat, and always ready to lend a hand. His legacy of kindness, leadership, and unwavering positivity will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Josh Vanden Branden obituary and funeral plans will be made available by his family at a later date.
